Jada D
Owner & Teacher One Yoga Vernon
Jada’s intention for her yoga practice and offerings is to create a space for love and healing no matter how that looks, so if you’ve ever wondered about what this practice looks and feels like for you, she can be that voice for you and encourage you to stay with it through the challenges, as she once did herself.
Jada’s first passion is to be the student, so you will often see her beside her family (or you) on her mat at all of the different types of classes and trainings! When you don’t see Jada on her mat you can usually find her hanging out in the sunshine with her beloved Jay and Charlie.
Jada is now a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT), Reiki master and is currently in Shamanic studies. With multiple teacher trainings from Ryan Leier & One Yoga (which includes 200hr Vinyasa Krama, flow and 200hr yoga leadership certifications), 100hr Maya Yoga Method with Nicki Doane, 50hr Iyengar restorative with Father Joe Pereira, 25hr Yoga Nidra, Pranayama 15hr with Srivatsa Ramaswami, youth yoga training from Vinyasa Yoga for Youth, and Yin/Restorative yoga training with Brandon Jacobs and Heather Gazley through Empowered Yoga. Jada is also trained as a certified Barre Instructor, worked years as a life coach and has completed her Reiki Master certification (levels 1, 2,& 3). Her trauma informed learning continues as she delves into Yoga therapy, Sound Healing Therapy and Shamanic studies.
Jada started practicing yoga consistently over 10 years ago. However, at that time it was more of a last resort type of “physical” activity for her. At a fairly young age Jada was riddled with illnesses; she felt excruciating pain throughout her body every single day and could barely walk to the end of the street without taking a rest. After multiple surgeries, doctors and prescription meds she decided to try yoga. She remembers not even moving in those beginning classes to eventually trying more and more each time mostly because she liked the heat and the music. Often times she felt like she didn’t really belong as she was really overweight and could barely do any of the postures like those around her but something inside told her to stay. It then began to turn into a practice that would save Jada’s life. Jada started to see things change quickly, like leaving with a smile on her face and this being a profound reaction at the time. The sun shone a little brighter and eventually she started to see her body, health and mind transform. Eventually able to take less and less pain meds, she couldn’t wait to get back into a class! Jada felt stronger with a new sense of purpose in her life. As she allowed herself to connect deeper within and take the time and space to listen to what her body and mind needed, it evolved and started to heal. As she started to heal she felt more drawn to sharing this gift with others.

Jay D
Owner & Teacher One Yoga Vernon
Jay began practicing yoga over 10 years ago and at that time never had any thoughts or interest in teaching it. He was just hoping to touch his toes again. After witnessing and experiencing the positive effects yoga was having on himself and those around him he became inspired to learn more and to share this ancient practice with others.
Jay brings playfulness, patience and maybe even a bit of "dad" humour to his teachings. Encouraging a softer and more meditative approach to yoga and loves to quote "yoga isn't a work out, but a work in".
When not on his mat you can find him with his family in the mountains snowboarding or adventuring in nature.

I came to yoga many years ago (age 24), at an age when I had struggled with anxiety, fear and health issues for many years prior. It was on a mat, in my soon to be mother-in-law’s living room where I experienced my first yoga class, where I found a peace and calm within that I had not experienced before. My mother-in-law was the first yoga instructor in Northern BC in the early 1960’s, and I was fortunate to be introduced to it through her. I began to practice yoga for myself, finding a yoga video at a video store with Rachel Welsh! I practiced with her video daily for months and got really good at the 26 poses, and then created my own daily practice and enjoyed the healing benefits. With the fear and health issues I struggled with, I was always praying, asking, pleading for help for ‘God’ to calm my mind and heal my overactive mind. Along with my yoga practice, I also began to meditate. One morning during my meditation practice I clearly heard a quiet calm voice say “finally, you shut up long enough to notice the stillness within!” This is when the healing began. I continued my yoga practice and meditation for over 30 years. It was later, when time and life allowed for me to take up a yoga teacher training. In 2007 I began a year and a half study with Yogacharya Michael, of the Rishi Culture Ashtanga Yoga Master’s Course online. It was intensive and life changing! Yogacharya Michael encouraged me to begin teaching after my certification and to know that what I had been taught, what he had passed down to me must be shared. I was ready to teach and wanted to help others discover their own inner peace and calm. For a period of 11 years, I was the owner and primary yoga instructor of Pottery Road Yoga studio located in Vernon. During that time, I was partnered with the OSR Group (Occupational Stress Recovery) in Vernon, where I taught groups of First Responders and Veterans trauma sensitive yoga, for a period of seven (7) years. After Covid, life changed and I chose to close my studio. My style of teaching touches on the spiritual and practical aspects of life. I enjoy introducing yoga to those who are new to it, and helping individuals to become familiar with the poses (asanas), and some of the philosophy of ancient yoga. I am passionate about sharing all the benefits of a regular yoga practice with others and I am so grateful to continue to study, and be a student of yoga and life!

My journey into yoga really took off a few years back when I was finding my way and my breath during some challenging times. I found yoga a place where I was always able to find my center
and to feel grounded. I became incredibly inspired, and it wasn’t long after that I decided to take my yoga teacher training. At first, it was to deepen my practice, but throughout the training, I discovered a major love for teaching as well.
I currently hold my 200hr Yoga teaching certificate with the yoga alliance and am excited to add more training to deepen my teaching practice.
I am so grateful and humbled to be a part of this studio and am looking forward to sharing my love for yoga with you all ❤️
Gillian G
Teacher One Yoga Vernon
Our story begins in East Vancouver, where a young Gillian tells her mother she'll one day "do yoga." Being born into a multicultural community, she was drawn naturally to things like art, dance and learning about different ways the children in the neighbourhood practiced their unique customs and rituals.
Her family moved to the interior of BC, first to Nakusp, where she exchanged her awe of things like crabs and seals for a love of goats, bonding more deeply with animals and nature. A second move to Salmon Arm gifted her a connection with the lakes of the Okanagan Valley. As she grew into adulthood, she moved and travelled and moved again, seeking and searching for something that felt like her; like home.
In 2010 she finally found her place on her mat. From the very first class, she was hooked. Gillian completed her first 200hr teacher training with Eoin Finn in Bali, Indonesia in 2015. From there she has continued to travel and train with Eoin and Insiya, in Bali, Tofino and Victoria, BC and plans to one day complete their Blissology 500hr certification.
With yoga teaching underway, Gillian also began her work in the autism community in 2016. Having a passion for working with children, she combined her areas of expertise to teach kids yoga for autism, alongside her regular studio classes and workshops.
Children have been one of Gillian's greatest teachers, as they come to the planet without any of the social and cultural constraints life delivers. Working with kids and being a Mom to her own son have both softened and strengthened the way she looks at yoga and teaching, and deepened her understanding that when life provides a supportive environment for us to grow, we naturally become more of ourselves.
Gillian's classes are an open and safe space to explore your potential. She values each individual's freedom of expression on their mat, and understands that each class is a unique experience. In class you will be encouraged to tune in, and learn to feel more deeply what the present moment has to offer. Everyone, and all levels, are always welcome.

Ashley B
Teacher One Yoga Vernon
I have been practicing Kundalini Yoga since 2012, after discovering the practice in an autobiography. After trying one class, I knew this was the practice for me.
Through the practice of Kundalini Yoga, my goal is to support students in balancing their nervous system, reduce stress and cultivate a deeper sense of self awareness.
I create a safe and welcoming space for students to explore this powerful practice and be a witness to their own experience.
